Why professional graphic design doesn't cost $5.00 Design Brief A written explanation outlining the aims, objectives and milestones of the design project. A thorough design brief is a critical part of the design process. It helps develop trust and understanding between the Client and Designer and serves as an essential point of reference for both parties. It ensures that important design issues are considered and questioned before the designer starts work, in turn saving time and money.
Conduct research focused on the industry, its history, and its competitors. Take key factors of the market into consideration before choosing fonts, colour, images etc. Each design element should have a purpose.
Conduct research into designs that have been successful and current styles and trends that may be related to the design brief. Keep in mind that the world around us changes quickly but good design leaves a lasting impression.
Design concepts are developed around the brief and research. No idea is a bad idea, but through conceptualizing you find the BEST idea.
Don’t rush the process when possible. Ideas mature and bring renewed enthusiasm with time. Seek out new inspiration where you least expect it. Accept constructive criticism and others opinions when you can.
The Client helps establish the important information to conduct the design brief, it’s the Designers role too guide them through the design process.
Present only a select few of the best concepts to the Client.
Take the time to explain the reasoning behind each concept and design idea.
Celebrate each finished job as an accomplishment (…drink beer, eat chocolate, party, or start on the next project!) Graphic Designers are more than just problem solvers. We work with our clients to make their product reach their intended audience. We combine the client ’s thoughts and our ideas to translate this into powerful visual communication.
